The difference between a Super retirement and a superior retirement

It’s a fact that Australians are living longer. Thanks to advances in Healthcare, medicine and a healthier lifestyle, we are living around 15 to 20 years longer compared to sixty years ago.

But how much will you need to retire comfortably?

According to the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA), for a couple that owns their home outright to retire “comfortably” they’ll need $60,063pa and for a single person owning their own home, they’ll need $43,695pa.

Through compulsory superannuation, most Australians have been saving for their retirement without giving it much thought, especially the twenty somethings. But as we get older, a more than comfortable retirement is what most of us want.

The bad news is that only about 6% of Australians will be able to retire with a lifestyle where they can travel in style, treat themselves to the car of their dreams and really enjoy their retirement.

So for the remainder of us, about a third will retire “comfortably” and two thirds not so comfortably, with many Australian retirees living a very frugal life on the government pension.

How to obtain a Superior retirement

Through smart property investment and considered capital growth strategies, you can reach the retirement lifestyle you deserve. But it’s important to remember that understanding the mathematics behind property investment is crucial for the growth of any portfolio.
