Brisbane population growth
Want a more affordable home with more space and live in a better climate? You’re not the only one!
Recent population figures show that although Melbourne and Sydney lead the nation in overall growth, Brisbane was the first choice for Australians looking to relocate.
Significant northwards migration
In 2016-17, 10,570 Sydneysiders and 6478 Melburnians headed to Brisbane, this was the strongest internal migration rate of any capital city.
High property prices in that year for Melbourne and Sydney could have encouraged Melburnians and Sydneysiders to go North and in Brisbane, the dollar buys more. More money to spend as you’ll have less to pay on a mortgage. More time to enjoy with friends and family with less commuting, and compared to Melbourne, more sunshine!
As an example, a three bedroom home only 7 kilometres from the CBD in Brisbane would be around the same price for one that sits on Melbourne’s outer fringes.
Brisbane has good economics
The Suncorp CCIQ Pulse Survey revealed that confidence in Queensland’s economy is also strong, and that’s another solid reason why Melburnians and Sydneysiders are making the move.
Low house prices
With house prices in Brisbane from $450k upwards and the opportunities to create wealth through strategic investment, heading up North could be a no brainer.
